The Crew

  • Cassi Nicolaus Crowley

    Owner, New Gen

Born in Northern California, from spring bloom to fall harvest, Cassi grew up amongst the trees and the elements.

After a decade of professional pursuits in community-focused non-profits, and even a Master of Social Work degree, Cassi didn’t suspect she’d return to the farm. However, after seeing the impacts of climate change firsthand on the small farm, she began to implement new practices focused on regenerative agriculture, sustainability, and climate resilience. NicNut Farms is fulfilling a dream to serve others and preserve an ancient agricultural connection with the soil.

  • George Nicolaus

    Owner

George was raised in rural Iowa, brought up among miles and miles of corn. Always interested in forging new paths, he moved west to California in the 1970’s, fell in love with a California girl, and decided to put down roots (literally). What began as a small almond orchard property across the street from the Sacramento River expanded to multiple ranches throughout Butte County. From fixing sprinklers to riding tractors to planting trees, he’s done it all. He keeps saying he wants to retire, but he won’t stop showing up at our office. When he’s not offering sage advice and patient insight, he’s probably Hawaii-bound or chasing his grandkids.

  • Connie Nicolaus

    Advisor

Connie is a born and bred California girl and proud to be fourth generation “Chicoan”. She is the proud wife of George (over 40 years!), mother of four children, grandmother of nine grandchildren, and great-grandmother of three great-grandchildren. She has spent her life cultivating the strengths of others through counseling, coaching, and teaching. She is a valued part of our team as an advisor, cheerleader, and “Mimi-extraordinaire”. Like George, she loves to be Hawaii-bound and never puts down a good book.
