Northern California Walnuts, Almonds, and Speciality Crops. Grown with extra love.

What if we lived in a world where agriculture served the environmental, social, and economic good of all?

Where agriculture didn’t compete with natural resources and local ecosystems, but instead preserved them?

Where farmers and environmentalists worked together?

At NicNut Farms, we don't just believe it's possible. We're doing it right now. Join our climate-smart journey.

Our Story

NicNut Farms is the descendant of seven generations of family farming. The Nicolaus family immigrated from Germany over 150 years ago, planting their legacy in the Midwest among acres of soybeans, wheat, corn, and even sheep. Later, drawn to temperate climates, the family decided to forge a new path out west in California. Nicolaus Nut Company started in Chico, California in 1988.

After seven generations, we have come to realize that the dirt isn't just under our nails, it's in our blood.

Today, our mission is to see Nicolaus Nut Company, reborn as NicNut Farms, move into the next generation and many more to come. We embrace a farm that goes beyond producing excellent almonds and walnuts. In a rapidly changing climate, we are dedicated to climate-smart agriculture, community, and leaving the planet better than we found it. We believe in a world where agriculture serves the environmental, social, and economic well-being of all.

Welcome to NicNut Farms. We're just getting started.

“Regenerative agriculture implies more than just sustaining something but rather an active rebuilding or regeneration of existing systems towards full health. It also implies an open-ended process of ongoing improvement and positive transformation.”

Charles Massy. Fifth generation farmer, scientist, pioneer in regenerative agriculture and author of 'Call of the Reed Warbler'.
